FAQs

HCM stands for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. HCM is a disease in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick which results in the heart having a harder time to adequately pump blood. This condition is undetectable without the use of EKG and an Echocardiogram.
Echocardiogram is a test that uses ultrasound to evaluate the heart muscle.

Screenings take an average of 10 minutes to complete.

Dr. Preetham Jetty will read all echoes and EKGs.

Expect results to be mailed in 1-2 weeks if Dr. Jetty is not on site.

If it is abnormal the cardiologist will send results stating the student needs follow up with pediatrician.

Play Heart Smart only performs these limited screenings on children 10-25 years of age.

Please make sure any female has a sports bra on. Males will be expected to remove t-shirts.
