What we Do

Play Heart Smart provides limited cardiac screenings to rule out sudden cardiac disease by using blood pressure readings, ultrasounds, and EKGs. Our group of volunteers are committed to providing children and their families a peace of mind by ruling out this detectable heart condition. Our limited cardiac screenings are available for $99, financial assistance is available. All Madison County residents ages 10-25 can use the code MADISON to get a $20 screening thanks to Community Hospital Anderson. Book your screening here. Mission

Our mission is to bring awareness and much needed access to the community, youth and their families by providing potential life saving cardiac screenings.

We value a child’s right to play with all their heart. We want to use our skills and passion to make sure no child falls victim to the detectable heart condition.

Vision

Sudden cardiac death is detectable. Our vision is to educate families about the unknown congenital condition while being proactive by providing these life saving screenings.

Board of Directors

Ashley Williams

President

Ashley Williams is a registered Cardiac Sonographer who has invested a great measure of time in putting on these screenings. She is a full time Echo Tech at Community Hospital Anderson and has found her passion in using her skills to keep our youth safely active.

Andrea Beadles

Vice President

Andrea Beadles is the Vice President of Play Heart Smart. Andrea also volunteers her time in making sure this nonprofit organization runs seamlessly by overseeing current and future dealings of every screening. She is personally invested in making sure Play Heart Smart is accessible to all kids and parents across the country.

Beverly Jones

Treasurer

Beverly Jones is the treasurer of Play Heart Smart. She ensures all donations and proceeds for Play Heart Smart go back into our community which helps keep our life saving screenings accessible and successful.

Kia Jones

Secretary

Kia Jones is the Secretary for Play Heart Smart. She is all hands on board committed to finding local and nationwide facilities to host our organization in hopes to screen kids near and far. She is the personality behind our social networking and truly the one who inspired Ashley to bring her dream to fruition.

Dr. Preetham

Cardiologist

Dr. Preetham Jetty is a Cardiologist at Community Hospital Anderson. He is dedicated to volunteering his time in reading pediatric congenital ultrasound screenings as well as EKG results.

Amanda Miller

Registered Echo Tech

Amanda Miller is a Registered Echo tech and works for Riverview Hospital PRN and also as an IT specialist for Community Health Network. She is committed to volunteering her time and skills by assisting in our cardiac screenings in hopes to prevent detectable life threatening conditions.

Hearing all the stories in the news about children collapsing and dying while playing the sports/activities they love because of undetected heart defects, I got scared and decided to reach out to Ashley to have my daughters heart scanned. Having my 11 year old athletic daughter's heart scanned has provided me with such great relief. Thank you Ashley and Play Heart Smart

As a mother of a young athlete there is reason for concern when it comes to their health. Being in the medical field myself I knew getting an athletic heart screening was a must. I did a great deal of research and came into contact with Ashley. She was amazing at taking out the time to go over information about the scan. She made us feel comfortable and that was very important to my son, Jordin, and I. The scan was noninvasive and only took a few minutes. Getting the results and knowing that my son did not have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy gave us both peace of mind. We will continue to get this scan every year with Ashley.

Having personally experienced a healthy family member collapsing due to sudden cardiac arrest in her 20’s due to an undiagnosed heart condition, I was ecstatic to learn of Ashley and the group providing these screenings at our local fieldhouse. My worries are multiplied by the fact that my kids father and I are both adopted, so we have little to no medical history. With a high school swimmer and a multi-sport middle schooler, it was honestly scary at first thinking of what the screenings might find. Now with 2 healthy screenings behind us, it gives me such peace of mind knowing I can send my kids out to play hard and do their best!
